Purity kicks off World Cup with Celebration Dinner
Purity Productions were delighted to be appointed by Milton Keynes based, Livingstone-White PR to produce a World Cup celebration dinner and big-screen viewing of England v USA, the first England group game of the South Africa World Cup. Over 300 local business people and sporting celebrities enjoyed getting together to watch the match on three huge screens at StadiumMK.
Dr Ann Limb, Chair of the MK 2018 Bid Board opened the evening by welcoming the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, and the Mayor of Milton Keynes to the event which was attended by three footballing legends: referee Dermot Gallaher, former Arsenal and England player Tony Woodcock and local MK dons hero and England under 21’s player Sam Baldock.
The irrepressible Alastair Campbell was the special guest. A huge football fan himself, he contributed enthusiastically to the evening by raising funds with a book signing and taking to the stage to run the auction.
Speaking about the event Dr Limb said: “It was wonderful to see so many people from the local business community supporting the 2018 Bid. Despite a disappointing result it looked as though everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
“I am very grateful to Alastair and the sporting celebrities for giving up their time to help support us, it just goes to show how many people are behind Milton Keynes and the England 2018 Bid.”
Local sports organisations were also well represented on the night, Vince Macauley and Mike New from MK Lions, Professor Peter Thomas MBE Chair of Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Sport Board, Sports Leaders. Sports Aid and MK Dons team members and the MK Dons Sports and Education Trust.
The evening raised funds for the England 2018 World Cup Bid and MK’s International sporting city status. Milton Keynes is a Host Candidate City within the England 2018 Bid and the celebration was sponsored by Grant Thornton and Triad, with over twenty five local companies supporting the huge grand draw and auction. This was in addition to a silent auction by top London sports Memorabilia Company, Autographs of the World.
